ESG & Sustainability Professionals

Verified Scope 2 emissions data at scale.

For ESG & Sustainability Teams

The Problem with Manual Energy Reporting

Most organisations still collect electricity data through manual spreadsheet requests, PDF bills, and email chains with facility managers. The result? Data that's incomplete, unverifiable, and audit-risky. As reporting frameworks tighten and stakeholder expectations grow, the old way simply doesn't scale.

Volt Data replaces this fragile process with automated, CDR-sourced electricity data feeds, verifiable with granular NMI-level data, and delivered in the format your reporting framework demands.

Frequently asked questions

CDR (Consumer Data Right) data is sourced directly from the electricity retailer through a government-regulated framework. Rather than relying on scanned bills or manual data entry, CDR provides structured, digital data including raw interval reads as frequent as every 5 minutes in a consistent format across all retailers. This gives you a more reliable foundation for ESG and sustainability reporting.

Each electricity account holder completes an online authorisation, selecting their retailer, verifying their identity, and consenting to share specific data. The process usually takes a few minutes. Authorisations last up to 12 months and need to be renewed annually. Account holders can withdraw consent at any time through their retailer or through Volt Data.

Each site requires its own CDR authorisation from the account holder. Volt Data provides tools to streamline this at scale, including shareable consent links and status tracking, so you can manage renewals and monitor which sites are active, pending, or expired across your portfolio.

Yes. Volt Data connects to 20+ Australian electricity retailers through the CDR. Regardless of which retailers supply your sites, we deliver the data in a single, consistent format so you can report across your entire portfolio without reconciling different bill layouts or data structures.

CDR interval reads can be cross-referenced against billing records from the same retailer. By comparing granular usage data with invoiced amounts, you can build a verifiable picture of consumption that gives auditors confidence in the numbers behind your scope 2 and ESG reporting.
